I was at my mom’s house around 7 in the morning. My contractions were slowly getting closer. I called my midwife and confirmed that I was in labor, and she had said if they had gotten 10 minutes apart to call her and let her know. My mom had said to go and get a warm bath because for some reason that helps. So I did. Something red was in my bath water, so I called my mom back to look at it, and it was my mucus plug. She had said it’s almost time to get going to the hospital, and that was only around 10 a.m.”

“After my bath, we had walked down the street to go and get something little to eat. By that time my contractions were 10 minutes apart ... and let me tell you I was in a little bit of pain because it was all back labor. We had called my midwife back and had told her that they were 10 minutes apart; she said I could come down anytime I wanted to, so I waited a little bit longer. I walked, and walked, and walked to get the contractions closer. Like I said it was ALL back labor.”

“11 p.m. came around and that’s what time we started to head down tot he hospital. I got into my room and all settled down. I was in a lot of pain. I didn’t want any drugs; I wanted to do it all natural. All back labor, which sucked, and I was soooo tired because I was awake with contractions at 4 in the morning. The nurse was in and out checking on my blood pressure and my daughter’s heart rate. Well, finally I had enough with the back labor and even though still wanted no drugs, my doctor came in and made me get the epidural because I would have been way too tired to give birth to my baby. So they did the epidural. It took them 7 tries to get the epidural in. And every time they told me not to move, I moved because of the back labor.”

“My doctor came in every once in awhile; the second time he came in was to break my water. So more time went by and I was still in labor; baby didn’t want to come out ... she was being stubborn. Well when I got the epidural, they had to watch me very closely because the baby’s heart rate was dropping, and so was my blood pressure. Finally it came time to push, and I couldn’t find my doctor, but luckily my midwife came to the rescue! Thank the lord ... ha-ha.”

“It was time to push, and she was coming out but going back in. She didn’t want to be brought in the world (ha-ha), but at 8:25 a.m. Layla Nicole was born weighing 7 pounds on the dot, and measuring in at 19 1/2 inches long. Beautiful baby! But they had to take her right away because she had swallowed her own stool when they broke my water, so I didn’t even get to hold her until a little while afterwards! But that’s my labor story. A long and hard labor, but it was all worth it in the end. My mom said that they should have given me an emergency c-section, but I was too far in labor. But, I was due March 7th, and I went until March 13. I was a week over due. So I’m hoping the next baby goes better then this one did.”
