I was 40 weeks and 6 days pregnant, and I was very ready for it to be over. I remember I was to be induced on May 12th, at 9:00. I got there and I had myself prepared or so I thought. They started me on Oxytocin and the contractions instantly started."
"I remember seeing a couple of doctor's but my nurse I believe her name was Carly was my rock. She was very helpful, and I needed the support she gave me. The Oxytocin really made my contractions strong, and I really tried to hold out as much as I could, but I wouldn't dilate for the life of me, and I was feeling the contractions every 40-50 seconds and they were horrible. They gave me Stadol and it was good for a couple of hours, it let me sleep, and for that I am grateful."
"Once I woke, not only did the contractions get more powerful, I also started getting contractions in my back and it was horrible! I begged and pleaded for the Epidural, and I was told not yet. Finally they did give it to me but I still did not dilate. They had to put a balloon in my cervix to help me dilate and around 1 am I had dilated to 4 cm, and my water broke. I was very thankful."
"I remember the night nurse, I wish I could remember her name was right beside my bed most of the night monitoring me because of the baby's heartbeat. Around 6 am, the epidural wore off, and my world started getting messed up again. I dealt with it the best I could, but now it was normal contractions, back contractions, and leg contractions, and I couldn't handle it. They told me if I didn't dilate the full amount by 11 am they would do a C-section."
"Thankfully by 11 am I did dilate and they gave me an hour to rest. 3 hours later and a vacuum to help, my beautiful healthy little girl was born. If I didn't have the help of the nurse's who understood what I was going through, I don't know what I would have done."
"Everyone always says how you forget about the pain, no not necessarily. I will never forget the pain, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It was worth every second that I was hurting!"
