I went back to work and felt bad the rest of the day. Around 9:15 p.m., I told my husband I didn’t feel right. I went and laid down for the night, and at 10:15 I woke up with my 1st contraction ... I timed it and than 10 minutes later got another, than 10 minutes later another, and this went on every 10 minutes.” At 10:55 I called the doctor and they told me to come in.”

“I went in, the doctor checked me and he said; 'get comfy mom, you are almost 5 CM and have a bulging bag.' Well, they got me all checked in, I got a room, and man was I scared!! Here I am 33, my 1st baby, I swore I would go natural; well the pains kept getting worse. The nurses were FANTASTIC! They kept coming in to check on me, they really were GREAT!”

“The next morning rolled around, the doctor came in around 7:30 a.m., and broke my water. The pains got a little worse; the nurses again were very, very attentive! They kept coming in to make sure I was ok. Around 11 they came in and put me on oxygen because his heart rate kept dropping with contractions. Than at 130 p.m., my regular doctor came in and told me that they think I should go with a C-section, because his heart rate wouldn’t stay stable.”

“The doctor came in and gave me the epidural, talked me through the whole thing, as well as the nurses who held my hand through it. They wheeled me down to the OR, got me ready, my husband walked in, and they started the section. I am watching my husbands face, as the doctor is working. The doctor says; ‘Jen, here he comes’, and I see the tears rolling down my husbands face. I said is he out, I hear the doctor say; ‘cord times 2.,’ and my husband is crying”

“I said, ‘I don’t hear him, what’s wrong?’ the doctor says, ‘Jen, the cord was wrapped twice tight’. Than all of a sudden, they hold this tiny human up so I can see him, and he lets out this tiny cry. My husband grabbed me and we cried!”

“They got him all clean, and they wrapped him up and gave him to my husband to hold. Than my husband walked over and said I would like to introduce you to your son! He looked at our son and said Elijah, this is your mommy, and you are so lucky to have her! We went home 3 days later!”

“Elijah is now a gorgeous, smart almost 2-year-old! Thank you Harrisburg Hospital Staff YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!”
