"On Tuesday, January 9th, we went into Labor and Delivery around 9:30pm. I felt that there was no chance that I was going to spend the night because as soon as we got there, all the things that I was feeling had totally disappeared. But they put me on the monitor, and noticed some really erractic behavior in my contractions."
"I was admitted and given some morphine to help me get some rest. I am really glad that I slept that night. On Wednesday morning, I was checked and was still only 2 1/2 cms dilated. The pitocin was started around 8 am and by 10 am, they were ready to break my water. At 12 pm, I was 4 cms. The afternoon was long and tiring. I didn't progress fast at all, but my crazy contractions were causing me so much pain that I finally had to give in to the epidural. It took four times for the epidural to work and when it did, it was heavenly."
"At 6pm, I was 6 cms. At 7pm, 7cms. Finally, 24 hours after starting this whole process, at 10pm pn Wednesday, January 10th, I was at 10 cms. I started to push. I pushed for about 2 hours, when Chase's heartbeat started to accelerate. The doctor checked me, and I hadn't made any progress. He was still very high up."
"It was now past 1 am and I had had my water broken almost 14 hours before. The doctor decided it was the best option to deliver by c-section. So at 1:30 I was prepped for the c-section."
"And at 2:05 am, the same time that I was born, the most beautiful little boy in the world was brought into my life. We had the most wonderful nurses in Labor and Delivery. And after 28 hours of labor, I got to see them through two shifts and six shift changes. Courtney was the best nurse possible!"
